"He laid the bricks that made a neighborhood. His name is in every wall."
# Vincent Caruso Vinnie Caruso laid brick for fifty years in South Philadelphia and took quiet pride in the fact that you could drive down half the rowhouse blocks in the neighborhood and find his work still standing. He learned the trade from his father, taught it to his son, and never once called in sick. He was a man of few words, strong opinions about Sunday gravy, and unconditional love for his family. He retired at seventy-two, coached his grandson's Little League team, and died with his boots still in the hall.
